The basic steps to install Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS from CD or USB stick are the same for installing any operating system from CD. Unlike the Ubuntu 12.04 for Desktop, Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS does not include a graphical installation program. but, Instead Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS  uses a console menu based process or called text-mode installer based:

  • First, Download Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS ISO image

Download Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS

  • Then, burn ISO Image Ubuntu Server 12.04 to CD.
  • Boot the system from the CD-ROM drive

        Thank you ubuntusg.. I appreciate your effort, thank you for the info.. As i remember there were choices ask by the software while installation is ongoing.. I have succesfully install 12.04 but got new proiblem, i cant log in through administrator, after I key in the administrator password the desktop will not load, while if I use guest session the desktop will load perfectly..

        please help ubuntusg

    sorry, but the CD-ROM and USB server installations aren’t the same. While installing from CD is very simple, the USB install pain in the @ss. I’m struggling for 3 days with it and I still can’t select which software to install. I managed to get the base system installed, but it’s so bare that it doesn’t even have nano.

    Hi, the current 12.04.3 LTS 64-bit Server installer – ubuntu-12.04.3-server-amd64.iso has a very bad bug in it affecting manual partitioning. When creating a partition you are not given the choice of Primary or Logical and It will not let you set the Bootable Flag to “On”.
    This makes it now impossible to do a software RAID1 Installation.
    I really hope they fix this soon.
