As far as I know, webmin is not or no longer advised for Ubuntu and is not in its repositories. More relevant information in the #ubuntu channel on People may want to try zentyal instead, “a web-based GUI interface for administering a server. It is designed to work with Ubuntu/Debian style configuration management”.

Quick thing, when executing the last instruction “sudo dpkg –install webmin-current”
    A) make sure you’re in the same directory as the webmin-current file and B) you must add the extension, ie

“sudo dpkg –install webmin-current.deb” (no quotes)
hope that will help some of the newbies!

Except that Webmin works and Zentyal doesn’t. You have to go around your elbow to do anything database related. I don’t know why people say Zentyal is designed to work with Ubuntu. Perhaps because you haven’t tried to use it in a production environment. I’ll stick with Webmin.
